Lindsay Tolksdorf, DO
I am Dr. Lindsay Tolksdorf, a board-certified family medicine physician. I founded Arcturus Family Medicine to provide what healthcare should be in my community: deeply personal, accessible and honest.
I am passionate about lifestyle medicine and empowering you to be the master of your own health and well-being. As an Osteopathic physician, my training taught me that the human body is capable of self-healing and health maintenance when the body, mind and spirit are treated as a unit. I have been trained in traditional Western medicine and I have taken on additional training in Osteopathic manual therapy, acupuncture, and lifestyle medicine. I do not believe there is one magic medicine or therapy that works for all people in all situations but I am happy to explore the options you are most comfortable with.
I firmly believe that my role as your doctor is to provide you with the knowledge and guidance to make the best decision for you and your loved one’s care. Healthcare is a discussion, not a one -way message. I also believe discussion cannot happen without the time necessary to understand your goals and values, to discuss your healthcare options and answer your questions. This is why I am opening my Direct Primary Care Clinic- to provide you direct access to your doctor with longer visits and no interference from insurance companies or corporate systems.
My Background and Medical Journey
I am a native of St. Charles and graduated from Francis Howell North. I attended Lindenwood University briefly as a music education major. Then, I dedicated 3 years of my life to Christian service and leadership which taught me valuable life lessons and ignited a passion to care for others. Afterward, at the suggestion of my very kind parents, I moved home and returned to college, graduating from Maryville University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Biochemistry minor. I went to Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and returned to the St. Louis area for family medicine residency training at Saint Louis University and Scott Air Force Base. During my medical training I took on additional coursework in osteopathic manual therapies, including in Fascial Distortion Model, and I completed the 300-hour Military Medical Acupuncture course through Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. I served in the US Air Force while in medical training, at Scott Air Force Base, and Misawa Air Base in Japan where I worked in both the Family Medicine Clinic and Urgent Care Clinic. In 2023, I returned to the St. Louis area and worked locally in urgent care centers.
During my medical training, I met the love of my life- Jeff, who has been my best friend, co-adventurer, support and partner in everything from hiking and international travel to parenting and growing our own vineyard. Together we live the daily chaos of being parents to three wild little boys.
Why Arcturus?
I spent many childhood summers sailing on Lake Champlain with my grandfather. He was a sailor, a musician, a husband and father of seven, and very dearly loved. His sailboat was named Arcturus and I have fond memories of my time spent aboard with my family. The clinic is named in honor of my grandfather, or Poppa, Ben Brewster. Additionally, Arcturus is the brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere and serves as a navigational guiding star. That is the role of Arcturus Family Medicine Clinic- your healthcare guiding star.
